[RESOURCE] Pol's mini effect pack

I think we can all admit the default explosions from SC are getting rather boring. So, I went about and converted a few explosions from GalCiv 2, and I've also made 2 custom weapon effects to accompany them.

Awesome! A bit of a pain to download, though. I should have file attachments working on the forum. Did they not work?

The file is about a megabyte, and the attachments only allow 256kb.

Beautiful! I'll be sure to use some of them...

GalCiv2 is an awesome game by the way. :P

They are on an aerial view and not isometric (at least what I saw). Unless they're meant for overlays and other stuff I wouldn't use them.

Herc: You might want to think of increasing the attachment size specially since this is a modding community.

Cool!

With the limited colors you can't really portray isometrics with explosions very well. Re: The AO explosions.

Wish I had these when I was still modding.

I've had some of these explosions ingame, and the fact that they aren't isometric never really bothered me. The animation plays too fast and it's semi-transparent, so it's hard to get a good look at them to really be able to see their flaws. But, what you do and like is up to you, Corbo. I can't stop you :P

But I can agree with Corbo on increasing the attachment size, 256kb is rather small.

Attachment limit raised to 30mb. Attachments in PM's are now permitted, with a limit of 10mb. Is this acceptable?

Re: [RESOURCE] Pol's mini effect pack

The average on sen/maplantis databases for mods is around 10MBs.

I would say that the 30MB limit is fine for now since we don't have a database. Attachments shouldn't really be that big anyway so as soon as we get a DB (we are getting one, right?) I'd say lower the size of attachments to 10MB. 10MB+ files deserve to be on the database. I'd increase the PM size, though, since people might tend to do closed betas or stuff.

Sorry for hi-jacking the topic, pol :P
